Dave Matthys Awarded the Section 8 NFHS Music Association Outstanding Music Educator Award Dave Matthys, recently recognized as Oregons NFHS Outstanding Music Educator Award, has now been selected by the Section 8 Music National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Music Committee to receive the Section Eight Outstanding Music Educator Award representing Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. This award is one of the highest awards presented by the NFHS in the fine arts. Mr. Matthys, LOHS Band Director for eleven years, retired last year. He will officially receive his award at the Band State Competition this coming spring. Nominations for the NFHS Music Association Outstanding Music Educator Award are solicited from the NFHS state contacts. We are extremely proud of Mr. Matthys and congratulate him on this prestigious award!
