Dave Murrays Latest STL forecast and weather disco...MONDAY...January 5, 2015: ***The first full week of the new year...most folks back to work and school with a week that is all about cold...impressive cold. Snow tough to come by… signs of a more active storm track the following week. Many times a rough November is followed by a quiet December… which we had..then winter gets back on the attack in January and February*** MONDAY: Lots of sunshine and cold WINDS: Northwest 5-15 M.P.H. HIGH: 28 degrees MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy and cold WINDS: Southeast 5-10 M.P.H. LOW: 22 DEGREES. TUESDAY: Partly sunny, windy and cold...some snow flurries WINDS: South going to Northwest 15-30 M.P.H. HIGH: 29 DEGREES dropping all afternoon Bitter, impressive cold Tuesday night, Wednesday, Wednesday night and Thursday(the coldest Wednesday night into Thursday morning with a drop to near zero THE WEATHER DISCO: It is all about the northwest flow this week… it is a clipper flow that is allowing the building arctic cold of December to release… release big time. The coldest weather...by far this winter season is on the way...with the motherload digging in Wednesday, Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Highs Wednesday holding in the single numbers and near zero Wednesday night into Thursday morning...lots of folks away from the urban heat island fall below zero. This big cold does two things… allows Alberta clippers to be rather active...but the track trend is to the north...with each one sending cold fronts through with some light snow and flurries. The other thing...is to drive the southern storm track well to the south...a major concern in my January forecast. So it is more about dry cold than anything else this week… but as mentioned above… the trend may be toward more cold/snow surges this weekend(looks minor) then into the following week...so hang tough snow bunnies… there are miles to go in this winter.
