Dave managed to retain a sombre expression, but inside he was thrilled. All the Commonwealth leaders were gathered round the buffet table; well, all except a couple of spoilsports. They were supposedly equal. But there was only one Mother Country – and only one Prime Minister of a Mother Country. It wasn’t like the boring old G8 – where he had to kowtow to Barack. Or those European bunfights, where Angela was always the biggest cheese. Here he was, numero uno, king of the world! “You start to see what it was like when we had an empire, don’t you, William?” said Dave, the corners of his mouth lifting, as dozens of world leaders formed an orderly queue to meet him. “Certainly do!” said William, unable to resist a smile as the doors to the room flung open, and in walked Prince Charles in an immaculate tropical suit. The statesmen turned tail and rushed towards the Prince at breakneck speed. Dave picked at his marzipan farmer grimly – his frown came naturally now. telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/david-cameron/10454187/Friends-The-One-Where-Dave-Stops-Smiling.html
