David, Justine and Shiela: the grateful family The UO means an awful lot to us. Justine and my older daughter have both had tuition with UO musicians. We have all benefited tremendously from the tuition. We first started attending concerts because of the incredible support Justine was receiving. So many friends have joined us since then. The school of music would just fall apart without the UO. Kids all over Belfast receive music tuition from the players, and attend the youth orchestras and the school of music. They would all fall apart. CBYO are ambassadors! It would die. Justine had the incredible experience of going to proms! She played in the Royal Albert Hall! My older daughter played with James Galway! None of this would be possible without the UO. Its lovely that English relatives are able to go see the girls perform in places like the Albert Hall. I have elderly relatives who listen on the radio. The bbc radio 3 orchestra coverage is excellent. Then theres the service, where older people are collected in minibuses, and are brought to enjoy concerts together. Thats an important lifeline for those people. The UO is such a vital part of the community. I remember the Jubliee proms in Bangor. They had everything- even a Jazz orchestra. It really brought the whole community together. They promote Ulster rugby- they always seem to be reaching out. They promote live music. And so many of the musicians teach! Children will really lose out. My older daughter has just earned her music degree; she learned from UO players!
