David Ostow Residents of big cities and New York in particular, help me out here: For the past few weeks Ive been noticing uniformed police officers, typically one or two at any given time, patrolling my block in the middle of the day. I approached the pair of officers outside my building on Sundayy to ask if there was some sort of threat in the neighborhood and they said that there was no threat but that they get deployed in the summer especially on weekends, especially on Labor Day weekend, when people get a little crazy just to make sure nothing gets out of hand. But its no longer the weekend, no longer Labor Day and no longer the summer and they are still out there. Am I getting the full story and if not where should I go to find it?
