David is out of surgery and in a room in the Surgical ICU. The surgery went really well. They used tissue from his inner forearm to rebuild his face and it looks good. The surgeon also did work on rebuilding his ear. He will be in ICU for a couple days so they can monitor the flap and ensure that it does not die. The surgeon said that 5% of flaps die. If that happens, then they would need to repeat the surgery with tissue from another site.
