Dawn is breaking here in St. Louis. Its a beautiful pink sunrise on what is supposed to be a day of sunshine and warm weather for October. My prayer is that without the chemo, with the assistance of pain medication, and surrounded by family, Melanie will feel better - enough to eat a little, and maybe sit up and talk for a while. She needs a little break in all of this pain and chaos - a small respite in what has been a recent glimpse of hell. I hope these next days are filled with smiles, reflections, and that nothing will be left unsaid. Not only is the earthly balcony full of singers standing hand in hand, but the balcony on the other side is full of singers and family who have already made the journey and are waiting for her to walk through the light. Both of those balconies are celebrating a life well lived. And when its my time to cross over, I know Melanie will be there to greet and sing to me. Shine on, my friend! We will dance and sing in a quartet and celebrate together some day.
