Day 1 Indo - thanks to all of you who donated, bought tshirts or attended my Chicks at the Flicks night, we were lucky enough to meet some of the incredible people behind Safe Childhoods & pass on funds raised. After speaking at length with Corie, we learned more of the amazing work that this organisation does. Unfortunately tho, due to red tape, The Sanctuary, where Safe Childhoods has built a beautiful place for the rehabilitation & safety for rescued children, has been halted - as its often a case of who you know in Bali, they have no indication of when this will be recommenced but fingers are crossed it wont be too long. In the meantime, they have a partnership wth the Jodie OShea Orphanage in Bali, where they send any rescued kids when possible. This orphanage relies solely on donations from the public to operate, & with 84 kids in their care, they desperately need the help. When originally researching organisations in Bali that could do with some help, they were actually second on my list after Safe Childhoods. So after receiving Safe Childhoods blessing & having spoken to a couple of people who donated, we made the decision to split the donations between the 2 organisations - I hope that this is ok with all of you who donated & that it was ok for us to have made this last minute decision. After visiting the Jodie OShea Orphanage on Day 2, we personally knew that it was the right decision - the fundraising that was done was to support both the prevention of abuse & rescue of kids (which Safe Childhoods does), as well as the ongoing rehabilitation, housing & protection of the rescued kids (which is now temporarily being done by Jodie OShea Orphanage). Supporting both organisations means that we are able to do this, even tho The Sanctuary is not currently operating. Both organisations will be emailing me a confirmation of receipt of the funds & appreciation of everyones support - I will post these as soon as Ive received them. If anyone has any questions about any of the above, or would like more information on providing further support, please just let me know. On behalf of the kids & the amazing people from both organisations - thank you 💗
