Day 10 (11/14/14): Woke up to an incredible offer--all I can eat hotel breakfast food for only $3.50! After reviewing the food options I had to regretfully pass. Dang it, I really like deals! Checked out Arizona States campus in Tempe. Very beautiful. I walked into the football stadium. I discovered afterward that it wasnt open to the public. But I walked in the same time as an older couple did. They turned out to be a big donor so they must have thought I was their driver or butler. Yet another job I could apply for! Drove over to see my friend Laura Carpenter, who owns her own law firm. Really impressive lady who I met in law school at THE Ohio State University. :-) We went to lunch at Oreganos. I had the zany ziti with meatballs. It was ginormous and covered in cheese. Uh oh, my FB friends are gonna yell at me! The servers were wearing shirts that said Legalize Marinara! After lunch I headed to downtown to check out the stadium of the Diamondbacks and the arena for the Suns. There were some cool restaurants and bars in the area, but I somehow ended up at a Tilted Kilt in honor of my bowling friends. Yep, I took it for the team! Bartender Ashley gave me some tips for places to hike. She complained to me that for the rest of her shift she had to work with three male bartenders who tease her. I then complained to her that for the rest of her shift I had to look at three male bartenders. We laughed. But not the same chemistry as I had with the cab driver in Vegas. Oh well. Headed north of town to have tacos for dinner with Laura. She introduced me to her four black cats. Her oldest cat sounded like a lion when she started making noise! Laura filled me in on Phoenix life while we watched Gotham. It is supposed to be 80 tomorrow. Im starting to get used to this retirement gig.
