Day 12 Developing friendship with God You are as close to God as you choose to be. Our relationship with God is a choice, not an accident. It is up to us if we want to have a relationship with God and be friends with Him. To be friends with God, we should be listening to and thinking about His words, sharing our experiences with Him, telling Him all your thoughts, feelings, even your resentment, anger, frustrations, and hang-ups. God knows and accepts that we are not perfect, but He wants us to be completely honest with Him Bitterness is the greatest barrier to friendship with God. Instead of focusing on your negative feelings, we should focus on opening our hearts and letting God in. If we are friends with God, we are like friends of the King. We share intimate relationship with Him but we are not His equal, so we must still obey His commands and trust His wisdom, and do this out of love, not of fear, of guilt, or of obligation. it is better to obey Him than to do or offer sacrifices. It doesnt mean that our sacrifices are of no worth.. God values them. But God values our obedience more. Come to think of it, what are the use of sacrifices if we dont obey His commands? We must choose to value what God values. We value what our loved ones value, right? We must care about all the people around you. We must desire friendship with God more than anything else . Pain is NOT punishment. It is a wake-up call from a loving God. Your most important relationship is your friendship with God, a relationship that will last forever.
