Day +12 (Monday, 1/26/15) is a new day that has gave us a little hope. Her white count is starting to come up. We have been watching it for a few days and wanted to make sure that we were on the correct track. It has slowly been coming up which means that she is engrafting (accepting the new bone marrow). There is only one that I can give credit to for her quick response and the less than horrible days of sickness. God. I want all to understand that this is wonderful news and what we have been waiting for, but even though we are starting to see these numbers come up, she is still not out of the woods. We now have to start watching for graph versus host (GVHD) and any virus that her immune system may reactivate. She has to have the transition from the IV meds to oral medications and no other complications before we can leave the hospital. All that being said, if all continues to go well, we should start the transition by this coming weekend and hopefully to the Ronald McDonald house within a couple of weeks.
