Day 13: Crown Him with Many Crowns/Rejoice, the Lord is - TopicsExpress

Day 13: Crown Him with Many Crowns/Rejoice, the Lord is King Two for one today because its Friday. Or because I grew up listening to this version with both songs. Crown Him with Many Crowns is one the best examples of a hymn in which almost every line could be the basis for its own sermon. About a dozen verses have found their way into various versions since it was written 160 years ago. Ill only include 3 here: Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne; Hark! How the heav’nly anthem drowns All music but its own! Awake, my soul and sing Of Him Who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity. Crown Him the Lord of love! Behold His hands and side— Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified. No angel in the sky Can fully bear that sight, But downward bends His wond’ring eye At mysteries so bright. Crown Him the Lord of life! Who triumphed o’er the grave, Who rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save. His glories now we sing, Who died, and rose on high, Who died eternal life to bring, And lives that death may die. Rejoice, the Lord is King is another one of the many brilliant hymns of the great Charles Wesley. Its melody and lyrics happen to flow well with Crown Him with Many Crowns. His kingdom cannot fail, He rules o’er earth and Heav’n, The keys of death and hell Are to our Jesus giv’n; Lift up your heart, lift up your voice; Rejoice, again I say, rejoice! Rejoice in glorious hope! Jesus the Judge shall come, And take His servants up To their eternal home; We soon shall hear th’ archangel’s voice; The trump of God shall sound, rejoice! #30daysofhymns https://youtube/watch?v=CUSdOtSONeE
