Day 13, Wow, I just kinda woke up from a dream, it all started - TopicsExpress

Day 13, Wow, I just kinda woke up from a dream, it all started last Friday morning when we left San Diego. When we arrived at Days inn Sedona, it was dark. When we woke up I checked for an AA meeting, turned out there was one just up the road at 8am, we showered and dressed (because we like clean and dont walk around naked). It was amazing when we stepped out of our room into Sedona, the place was stunning, the red rocks, the mountains, having driven here in the dark, this scenery was a wonderful surprise. A few blocks up the freeway, (blocks/freeway lol) we worried wed gone the wrong way. We looked for telltale signs and found them. A very warm welcome from everybody as we went in. Im going to get a Tee shirt printed that says Im a pommie. A great meeting, visitors are invited to share, I just said where I was 25 years ago and 25 years later I woke up in Sedona ! At the end of the meeting we chatted and drank coffee, we said we were hoping to get married while on this road trip, somebody told us Sedona is the 9th most popular place to get married in the world but only because people at the other 8 places hadnt visited here first. This place is so spiritual, you just cant describe it. Something to do with the area being a mass Vortex. A couple of lovely guys Joe and Dick were really helpful and suggested we spoke to a lovely lady whod been around for a while and if anybody knew anything about getting married in Sedona, she would. So, youd like to get married in Sedona? Itd be a dream we said well I guess I could do that, Im a ordained minister Both Joe and Dick didnt know she was a minister! And so it started, the three of them said leave it with us. We knew we could, such are friends youve never met...... They invited us to join them and the rest of the group for coffee but we needed to go for a walk, feeling very emotional and overwhelmed. They told us theyd pick us up at 5pm to take us to a speaker meeting. We went for a drive around Sedona, trying to take everything in. A wedding in the most beautiful place on earth being organised by people wed never met, yep, definitely overwhelmed. There is so much to be marvelled by, the place itself is overwhelming but not like Los Angeles. It really is heaven on earth. We booked up to join a stargazing tour later that evening, there is minimal light pollution here, all lighting in the built up is designed not to pollute. The rural areas just dont have any lighting. We drove to a couple of places to get me some clothes to be a groom, (should have brought something) a pair of chinos, a short sleeved shirt and a pair of deck shoes it was. We got back to the hotel, I tried it all on and everything fitted. We were picked up at 5pm and taken to a speaker meeting, dinner and a powerful meeting, raffle and sobriety countdown. Everything from 39 years to 28 days. It was announced at the start that a couple of visitors from Southampton, England were getting married, 5.30pm, Monday 15th at Cathedral Rock and all were welcome, itd been announced at every meeting in Sedona! We hadnt heard of Cathedral rock, amazing we were getting married at the biggest Cathedral in the world !!! It was really humbling, the blessings and kind words from everyone was heartfelt. Our good friend whod picked us up took us back to the hotel, we got the directions to go stargazing and headed out to Verde Valley. We didnt say much, everything was just falling into place, without our help, Gods plan? Certainly a higher power......... The star gazing was led by a guy who worked for NASA, the sky here lacked any light pollution, you could see the Milky Way clearly, the stars, never seen so many, reclining seats and blankets and a guided tour of the universe, nice. He had a telescope we all used once hed found us other galaxies and Nebuli to look at. We got back about Midnight, it was an amazing way to end an amazing day. I woke up Sunday morning and told Dee Id had nightmares about Chinos lol, I couldnt wear them, the shirt or the docksiders, just not me. So we had to return it all and find something else. I ended up getting the stuff I needed from a Goodwill store, $6.99 for the trousers & $3.99 for a top. Didnt use the top, just felt the om shirt apt for a spiritual wedding. We had a great day driving up, down and around. The best way to find those hidden gems is to go look for them. We ended up at a Stupor, the place was so peaceful, the clouds darkened and fork lightning lit the sky and the thunder echoed all around us. The slight drop in temperature gave a lovely cool breeze, the smell of the pines filled the air, it really was one of those rare moments when you feel at one with yourself, Mother Nature and those around you. We headed back to the hotel, did stop off at a couple of places to eat, menus were always okay for me but unbelievably restricted for Dee (vegetarian). A dominos pizza did the job, a chicken BBQ for me and a cheese, tomato and pineapple for Dee. Our good friend who was gonna marry us came by to go through how wed like the Ceremony. She was great, like minded people really are a blessing. We wrote our own vows and told her our stories (I blubbed). She told us shed decided on Cathedral Rock at Sunset as it was beautiful, spiritual in a Vortex and the two huge rocks in the centre were known as the Bride & Groom. Wed be picked up at 5pm. Took a while for all this to sink in........Had a great hour in the pool and half hour in the jacuzzi before hitting the sack. Woke up early and got ready to head out to the Supreme Court, about 50 miles away, to get a marriage licence. It costs $76, after checking our passports and dye king wed filled it in correctly, the County Clerk signed it, giving an ordained minister the permission to marry us in their county. She then typed out an affidavit which we both had to sign to say all the details wed given them were honest and correct. We left and headed back to Sedona. We couldnt resist stopping off at a Walmart on the way to see what theyre all about. Ye Gods, I thought Tescos was bad, Walmart was HUGE, you could by canoes, cornflakes, guns, gammon, Harley Davidsons and mobility scooters. Couldnt help but notice how many customers were in mobility scooters, many of them on oxygen tanks as well. No disrespect but I think if a lot of them got out of these things theyd feel a whole lot better, so much for sale in this store was supersize, ditto for the customers. We got back to the Hotel and needed, Bouquet and hairstylist for the bride. We asked, everybody said Safeway for the flowers, so off we went. I was expecting forecourt flowers, no chance, this place had a florist, Dee told the lovely lady what she would like and we agreed to return after 4pm. We walked around the Plaza and found a hair Salon, Dee made an appointment for 2 oclock. We picked up some bits and went back to the Hotel. Face timed the kids and told them what was happening. (FaceTime!!! What a wonderful invention, if your in a WiFi zone its free, sounds like the right price to me). Had a bit of lunch then dropped Dee off at the Salon. I went back to the Hotel and face timed some dear friends, seemed so strange getting married in a couple of hours and nothing to stress about or do, I smoked the rest of the Sativa.......joking lol, had twenty fags and cleaned out the suitcase twice. It was nice to have time alone and reflect......... Picked Dee up from salon, hair was lovely, picked up flowers, had another strong coffee or six then went back to Hotel to get ready. We got picked up at 5.................. Wedding video to follow .................;-)
