Day 15 - Relaxation Challenge. ACTIVITY. My 5 Achievements This exercise is great for helping your child develop their self esteem as they start to acknowledge even the small things that they have achieved. At the end of each day before bed, ask children to write a list of 5 great things they did that day. These can be simple things from listening at school, eating everything on their plate, smiling at someone or being a good friend. If they struggle you can point out the things that you think they did great that day. EXERCISE. Quiet Listening - Close your eyes and stay as still as possible. Spend some time listening to all the sounds inside the room, see how many different sounds you can notice. Stay very still and quiet and listen to any sounds outside the room. The more still and quiet you are, the more you will be aware of the sounds around you. This is a great exercise to do with your children as you can compare the different sounds that you heard afterwards and include praise for hard to hear sounds that took a lot of concentration and stillness to hear. AFFIRMATION. ‘I am a great listener’ - This is a great affirmation to help you stay quiet and listen to what is going on around you. SUGGESTION. Reflect on your bedtime routine. Do you have a routine? how could it be improved? would you like more help from your partner at bedtime? would your child benefit from more routine? ask your child what they would like, what would the perfect bedtime look like to them? Write it all down, reflect on what you would like and come to a compromise on what benefits all of you as a family.
