Day 17/18 -- Trust the Plan Have you ever wanted to change your life? Most people have wanted to at one point or another. There is one very important concept to embrace that predicts success. In wellness coaching, the first meetings are often spent listening to goals and realities of today and then inviting interested parties to get with the plan. Everyone is invited. The plans work . . . there is real science behind the plans. And, at first, there is zealousness and an Oh, Im ready for this. I am ready to commit. Sure, I will commit to others too! . . . as much as people want change, however, it is not as easy as initially thought. Even when we spend time discussing the importance of taking baby steps and have models of success to share, it is the committing to and trusting in the plan, that becomes difficult amongst the other realities and habits of life. The reasons vary, but often the biggest hurdle is the trust that is needed to maintain hope in something attainable but unseen (a healthier life) and giving in to trusting a plan that doesnt always make sense and can challenge. Your challenge for two days: Write out a very simple plan for health. How? One thing, just one, that you know will make for a healthier life. You already are equipped with some very real tools. Challenge yourself to trust that this is a good thing for you. Enjoy the zealousness you feel when you start out, and allow yourself to experience the trust in staying committed to it for another day. . . if not longer . . . And maybe, just maybe, this act of trusting in a healthy plan for today, in pursuit of something ahead, will open your heart to trusting in a far bigger plan? . . . Reflection: Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Psalm 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Romans 10 10 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. 4 Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. 5 Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.”[a] 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”[b] (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’”[c] (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[d] that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”[f] Hebrews 2:13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.”
