Day 17/ A tribute to my supporters and 1000kms done and dusted! Wow! What a day! With a fully booked weekend in the Big Smoke including two back to back non-riding days, it was time to get serious! Today is about you guys. The people that have reached into their pockets and into my heart with your generosity and warm words of support, love and strength. I am a middle-aged, overweight bloke from the burbs that saw the Great Cycle Challenge pop up in my Facebook news feed, had a passion for the cause and after a rush of blood, set a seriously irresponsible target of 1000 miles to do my bit to ensure that kids are living life, not fighting for it. I originally set a fundraising target of $500. Today we crossed my third revised target of $2500 so Im upping the target to $3k. A massive THANK YOU to ALL OF YOU and a special mention to todays supporters that made this happen. Cathy Ledger. Like your brother Terence Ledger, you are a Ledger by name and a Legend by nature. I dont know you personally but I know your family and your community and Im not surprised by your support. Thank you Cathy! Cousin Beck Olsen Mawhinney and your hubby Dale, I saw your message at Swansea Maccas when I stopped for a wee and a coffee! I dont know if youre familiar with the hill climb to The Big Prawn but its long and its ugly and I cruised up it into a vicious southerly with a grin like a split melon after learning of yours and Cathys generosity! Thank you so much Beck and Dale! Today, I did my longest single ride so far of 137 kms from Newcastle around Lake Macquarie and back as a tribute to YOU, the beautiful people that have raised $2500 + to kick cancers butt! I am humbled by your generosity. Todays image is a song tribute to you all. Yes, Nickleback is cheesey but this track says it all. Please have a listen because this is for you! youtu.be/-IUSZyjiYuY
