Day 19 Creativity and Imagination Week. MOvember. Whatever would meet at that intersection? Walt Disney. Or, as hed be known if he were alive today: Walt Freakin Disney. The man gave us a cast of characters, new ways to dream and whole new worlds to explore. He pioneered new roads for capitalism and imagineered new ideas for all. He was never a president, never held political power, but I think an argument could be made that Disneys contribution to the fabric of the United States of America - and even the world - is every bit as significant as those of the other deceased citizens gracing our currency and being remembered in holidays. Mind you, Im not saying creating Mickey Mouse is as important as spearheading the Civil Rights Movement. Nor as liberating as declaring independence from oppressors. Certainly there are more dynamic, socially relevant contributions that affect freedom and livelihood, but Walts ideas are right there to help celebrate those freedoms and enhance that livelihood. Thank you, Walt Disney!
