Day 19: The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror When the first Treehouse of Horror aired in 1990, Marge Simpson warned audiences that the episode would be too scary for most. We didn’t listen then, and we still don’t listen today. There’s something thoroughly enjoyable about watching The Simpson family in parodies of our favorite horror movies, TV shows, books, and short stories. Tonight marks the 25th Treehouse of Horror episode and while they haven’t really gotten better over the years, writers have been forced to make more obscure references that true horror fans can take pride in recognizing.
