Day 20: I am a more observant person because my life is woven with the lives of those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Part of the reason is due to trying to anticipate and identify changes in the environment and sensory input that may result in dysregulation or safety issues for those in my life with ASD. However, the greatest reason is because most people with ASD have an amazing gift of detecting even the smallest differences in their environment, and they observe and learn from the world in a unique and amazing way. I deeply value this uniqueness and perspective and often find myself trying to employ these approaches to exploring my world.
