Day 205 of AD 2014, Thursday July 24, #WordFromCurtis is... BEING LIKE JESUS - pt. 6 V. In Fruit Bearing FOUNDATION SCRIPTURE: John 15v16 » You didnt choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. INTRO: Fruit bearing is CORE to the Christian faith. As children of God, were VIABLE SEEDS capable of germinating & bearing fruits. What fruits? Lets study on... ELUCIDATION: Fruits in this context refers to; (a) the result of life & ministry, outcomes of gifts in use, etc. - Use ur gifts, talents, resources, etc to attract people into FAITH in Christ Jesus. (b) all the COMMUNICABLE ATTRIBUTES of God which are expected to be portrayed by the believer. - exhibit the divine nature in u. These attributes are our GENETIC CODE written in our divine DNA per the new birth in Christ Jesus, through faith. Every offspring has certain qualities passed down to him from his parents through genes. These traits easily make ppl remark, indeed this is d son/daughter of Mr/Mrs Smith. Yes, being born again is being born of God. If we have mortal traits we also have divine traits, which must come to bear. This is encapsulated in the Fruit of the Spirit, discussed in Galatians 5v22-23 which says, But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of FRUIT in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Remember, it is FRUIT, not FRUITS of the Spirit. But why are we referring to many things as FRUIT & not FRUITS? Simple: Orange trees produce oranges. The fruit has seeds, juice & flesh all housed in a skin. Seeds alone cant be orange. Flesh alone isnt orange, etc. The Spirit, in like manner produces a fruit called HOLINESS, which contains all the above as its content. One alone isnt complete. Bear all to be complete. CONCLUSION: Beloved we cant go around priding ourselves in being saved & yet God isnt receiving any returns. He fished out Peter to become a fisher who in turned fished out others who also became fishers until we were fished to. Chain reaction! Project continuum!!
