But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. - Joshua 24:15 So, I bet that most of you wouldnt say that your family is completely normal. Right? I mean, lets face it, were all just a little (if not a lot) weird. We all have our quirks, strange habits, and imperfections that keep us from being the Brady Bunch. Few times is this more evident than at Christmas time. The stress, tension, and hectic pace of Christmas bring out some very interesting moments in a family. Heres the deal though; theres no such thing as normal,especially when it comes to families. Now, dont get me wrong; there are some families out there that make it look normal, but when it comes down to it we all have our problems. So did Jesus and his family. Think about it. Mary was a teenager. There was some pretty serious scandal around the pregnancy. Joseph was seeing angels. They had the baby while on a really rough journey and ended up according to one story, fleeing to Egypt. Yep, they had some issues. Joseph is really not even mentioned after the birth of Jesus whereas Mary is throughout the life of Jesus. It couldnt have been easy. They also had a blended family. We know that Jesus had siblings, and we know that Joseph was not Jesus biological dad. See? It wasnt perfect by any means. But it worked. What about your family? What makes you different? Blended? Divorced? Still together but a little crazy? A brother or sister who is a little wild? During this holiday season, make sure to not let get you down. All of our families are a little crazy, even Jesus family. When you really think about it, thats what a normal family looks like. Enjoy your normal family this Christmas!
