Day #21 (Thursday) Bye-bye, Bocas It only seems fitting that as I sit down to write this final entry from Bocas, a light rain is falling outside, just like it did on my first full day here. Before I continue, I want to give a shout-out to all of you who read my novel-like entries each day. Besides putting my adventures down in writing for me, my ulterior motive was to save time in not having to repeat the stories of my trip a thousand times to friends and family. Whenever I travel alone, my greatest desire, or wish is to be able to share the moments with family and friends, so hopefully reading and laughing at my adventures, you were able, through this journal, to be here with me. Three weeks goes by incredibly fast, and I survived cold showers, very humid weather, not having my dog, drinking only bottled water, and of course, conjugating a thousand verbs in Spanish. While mentioning verbs, today’s final class proved to be full of, “interesting topics,” right Maestra Iveth? She has agreed to pay me handsomely for not publishing today’s topics on FB. By the way, I’ll be sharing a link to a story of Bocas and the school produced by the BBC in which my teacher is prominently featured. It captures, in moving images, what I have not been able to do in words. It is a bit lengthy, but I strongly encourage all of you readers to take the time to watch it. I will also be posting some additional photos, and some classmates will be sending/tagging me with some they took, uhh hmm, Candace and Alan. For this, my final day in Bocas, I had originally planned to travel to the mainland for a tour of a cocoa plantation. However, things do not often work out as planned, so I ventured to Isla Bastimentos with some of my best classmates for a zip-lining canopy tour. Perhaps you are wondering why little ol’ blind me would be taking a canopy tour when I am not able to see the treetops. Ah HA! Did you consider not being able to see as the reason I could do it? I do often wonder if I would be as brave doing these things if I could see. We all had a blast on the trip down over the jungle. Repelling down the side of a huge tree had to be one of my favorite moments. Hanging upside down over the longest and fastest and tallest stretch takes the cake though. The guide said that stage of the tour was the highest point, about 100 ft. from the ground. Fortunately for all, the weather cooperated wonderfully for the entire day, and needless to say, for my last day in Bocas, it couldn’t have ended on a higher note, pun intended. Here is the link to the video. https://youtube/watch?v=Hr6uLJRS7Kk P.S. I have been writing these entries in a Word document, and I just reached page #15.
