Day 23 - Neutrophiles are 2.4!! Bacteria cultures continue to come back negative. Magnesium is low so weve added another med by mouth, this makes a total of 12 meds in 24 hours not counting his IV antibiotics. The line that was removed was sent for testing and came back positive for the bacteria so we know for sure the cause. We are getting a dopplar ultrasound Monday to do a more extensive look to ensure there are no bloodclots, this will all determine the length of antibiotics and the length of time we will be here. Minimum of 10 days, possibly longer, few more days we will know for sure (yesterday being day 1) upon finishing antibiotic they recommend a week of observation to ensure the fever/bacteria doesnt come back but we have talked about doing that week back in Halifax. That being said, the docs here said they think that providing everything goes well we shouldnt need to be in the IWK any longer than one week. The Halifax doctors dont necessarily feel the same way but we will cross that bridge when we get back there and come up with a plan. All other blood work has been coming back great, rylans hemoglobin and platelets are rising steadily on their own!
