Day 26: Latisha Latisha is a single mom to a 1 yr old and a 7 yr old . When we called Latisha to let her know that we had a car ready for her she was so relieved that she no longer had to walk in the cold with her children! Latisha currently works part-time for a nonprofit organization that assists disabled individuals. With her own transportation, she will be able to become a full-time employee, allowing her to make more money to provide for her family! Latisha was referred to W4H by Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network (DIHN). DIHN partners with over 30 local congregations who provide overnight accommodations, meals and transportation for guests on a rotating basis. During the day, families receive comprehensive case management services, including assistance in procuring jobs, medical care, day care, school placement, and stable housing. This Buick is the first car that Latisha has owned! What an exciting time! She moved to NC from New York, where she had no need for her own transportation.
