Day 3 of my 7 Days of Gratitude challenge. Today I am thankful - TopicsExpress

Day 3 of my 7 Days of Gratitude challenge. Today I am thankful for my family of origin. My mother was a little spitfire that had the most giving heart. We grew up rather poor (by American standard). My Mom, my two sisters and myself shared a tiny (800sq ft) 1 bedroom apt. In Glendale. As I look back I realize we really didnt have much money, my father was in the U.S. Navy and was always gone. However, there were always people coming and going, wanting to chat with my mom and hang out at our home. Every Sunday, my Mom would fix a roast beef or fried chicken dinner and anyone was welcome. There always seemed to be enough for everyone to ear. My mother used to say, Jesus brings the increase. If he could feed 5000 with 3 fishes and a few loaves of bread hell provide for whoever shows up. Thats how I was raised in my early years. Everyone left our home full in every way. Im thank God for you Wilda Wilson. I know youre living it up in heaven! 2. I am grateful for my father. My dad was hard. He wasnt always nice to me. As I matured I realized he married my mother who had two young girls and then had me ( when he was 45 years old) I was unexpected and I cant even begin to imagine the burden he must have felt. He has already been in Pearl Harbor and on Midway fighting in battle. I think the war messed him up a bit. He did the best he could and provided well. I am grateful for the hard times because they shaped me to be able to handle adversity, have an inner strength and rely on God. 3. I am thankful for my sisters. Linda, for always being there and encouraging me. I often felt I had two moms. Linda has always shown me great love and affection and extends that love to my children. She is a strong believer in Christ and lives her beliefs. My sister, Connie, has been an example of hard work. She always worked. She got married young and had my niece, Misty. The early years, for her, were difficult ones but she did the best she could. She is very compassionate towards animals and she and my brother in law have been married 47 years. I was 3 when they met. Each one of my family members have had to overcome much adversity. I am proud to say not one had to ever rely on any assistance to make it. They pulled themselves up by the bootstraps, worked hard and made something of themselves. I come from good, hearty, stock and I love each of them so much. Today I challenge Jean Hugg-Rhine, Lori Berube and Kim Potter Dunn Israelsky to take the 7 Days of Gratitude challenge. Each day you pick three people to take the challenge.
