Day 30: Im thankful for choices. most of you know that the last few years of my life has had just some crap inserted into it. If you dont know the details, dont sweat it. Just trust me. Everyones life gets crapped on at some point, so Im not special. Some crap was accidental, some unfortunate and some just downright painful and unexpected. All of these situations forced me to make choices. Choice is powerful. Sometimes I act or make a choice without thinking. Ehh. Consider the source. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesnt. I wont apologize for who I am, and sometimes I just take a flying leap. At times I make a clean landing and other times my butt hits the ground hard. However, the major life changing decisions Ive had to make have come with great soul-searching, restless nights and tears. What I have tried to leave out of the equation is self-doubt and regret. They serve no purpose and keep me from moving forward. That is most definitely a conscious choice on my part. We cant change events in our lives. We can however CHOOSE how we react to these events. We can choose how we treat people. Im so thankful for my friends who have listened, have not judged and have made the choice to treat me fairly. I love my friends that arent intimidated by ugly. My life has had some ugly. This time last year, I was so bitter I couldnt begin to express what was good in my life. I have made the choice not to live with that mindset. Even with the crap, my life is good ( I have the tee shirt.) Is it what I planned? No. Do I have hard days? Can you say pull covers over head and hide? Do I have good days? You better believe it! Its that way for everyone. You just have to keep looking for balance. Balance never lasts for long. We are all works in progress. We can choose to use both our good and bad life experiences to make us a better person. Stronger. In the larger picture, its our duty to use our experience to help another one find their way. I choose to surround myself with people who share my quest for balance and the positive. I choose to hang with folks who would rather laugh than cry. I choose to be my authentic self. Life is short, and choice is a very powerful tool. So, I will continue to make choices that enable me to enjoy the blessings God has given me to their fullest. So, lets go peeps and hit December full-out!
