Day 30 in Hell. So much to be thankful for on this 30th day of our travail, just less than a week before our national day of gratitude. First, Karen was back with us today which freed Audry and I to get much more moved and cleaned than we could have otherwise, and allowed both of us to take off early and get some rest. Second, the ratty space at the back of the auditorium where we have tried to hide stored items behind a movable partition got its own professionally built, neat, clean walls today. Now the area can be a true storeroom and I will finally have a shadow box wall for the display of the Ortman theater artifacts weve had stored. Ill try to have that completed by the first Hootenanny, except for the glass front. With all the money were spending, that will have to wait. Third, Im indebted to Curtis Turner for volunteering trucks and men next week to haul off trash and broken furniture that has been piled up backstage from before I came. With the falling tiles screwed back up into the ceiling joists, the stage and backstage will be made safe for our Hootenanny performers. Fourth, I am thankful to Jennifer Griffin for donating the carpet we need to cover the new partition in the auditorium. This should really improve the sound. That, too, I hope to have up by the first Hootenanny. Finally, I am thankful that our construction guys got started on my office and the circulation area today. Gene is working tomorrow, as am I, and he told me he would try to have my office ready before stopping for the day. If he does, Im moving my boxed files and bookcase, etc. back in even if I stay till morning! Gotta keep our heads up. Redemption draws near.
