Day 334: Paul has made it clear that it not by our doing, works, - TopicsExpress

Day 334: Paul has made it clear that it not by our doing, works, by Christ’s doing, death and resurrection, that we are saved. Does that then mean there is nothing we have to do? That we are free to continue as we are because it is up to Him and not us? Um, not quite! “For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:5-13 Though Christ has done it all by going to the cross, taking on our sin, and conquering death with His resurrection, we must still accept the gift of life that He has given us by believing in Him and confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord. Now before someone says, “what if you can’t speak?” remember that it is Him that calls us, speaking to our heart, knowing exactly when our heart answers “Yes Lord!” It is at this moment that He places His Spirit within us and the Spirit will speak for us: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.” Romans 8:26-30 God knows the heart of those whom He has called. Oh what a beautiful thing, to be in the mercy of our King, our Savior Jesus Christ. I say “in the mercy” and not “at the mercy”, for to be “at” is to be waiting for or to be begging for, but we who believe in Him are “in His mercy” for we are forgiven and free. “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 136 (26 times) Thank You Lord!!!
