Day 4 - we learned last night that there was no blockage in the carotid artery, but there is still some leakage at her mitral valve - apparently it is no different than after it was repaired though. The docs have taken her off a couple of her meds (ADHD and menstrual control) because they increase the risk of stroke. She will be having another test today - a Trans Cranial Doppler - which is a way to see if the Atrial Septal defect is still open - even a small hole. If so, it may be the main cause of the stroke. Kiele DeVries is gaining strength on the right side. However, she is still drooling and having some speech problems. Fortunately, she will be able to have outpatient therapy to help with that once she goes home - rather than in-patient! Depending on the results of the TCD, it is still possible that we could be heading home soon! We very much appreciate the prayers and good thoughts everyone has been sending our way!
