Day 4 Gratitude Challenge, Im trying to make these shorter but I am nothing if not a wordy girl. 1- I am extremely grateful that I dont seem to have breakable bones and I fall a lot. My kids are used to it and nobody gets that excited or worried about it. Its usually because I never wear appropriate foot wear. Jeffrey once abandoned me in front of Wall Mart during Christmas season out of embarrassment. He saw it coming it was a slow one almost whispery....ohhhhhh noooooo.... shlump. Flat out on the cement right in front of the automatic door that droves of people were trying to get through. Ice and heels that dont have a tread dont mix he just kept walking eyes rolling. I got up all covered in grit and snow and found him inside he says yall rite. Yep. Are you going to stop wearing those shoes? Nope. I have fallen walking on streets in NY so often I cant even list them all. Again the shoes. Once Kenny Boyce and I were crossing 8th Ave to go to a liquor store and I was wearing crazy platforms and I stepped on a rock and it was over. Platforms are ankle rollers. Being the gentleman that he is was practically picking me up and dragging me to safety out of traffic and again nothing. He brushed off my knees. We just kept on bought a bottle of wine. Ive also fallen down Kennys stairs in his house wearing these gorgeous Reed Krakoff metallic open toed 4 inch heeled sandles. In my defence it was dark. The fabulounness and thrill of that perfect shoe was definately a juxtaposition to the boomboomboomboomboom and Kenny and Aleix Rosales running in horror from the kitchen OMG shes down. Bit of a bruise that time. My arm got tangled in the railing and pulled it from the wall. Kenny reminds me of this once and a while and suggests I re-think the shoe situation. No can do Mr Boyce. The best one was when I fell into the Red River at the end of an after party cruise in Bentley Becks boat. It was drizzling rain and the dock was wet. I was first out and running. I almost got to the end this time wearing black patten loafers with a slick bottom and I slid to the edge just a couple feet from the riverbank my back to the water.... held it.....held it....arms waving in wide circles in slo mo.... loud this time AHHHHhhhhh...... splash...yuk. Those shoes stayed in the river they got stuck to the bottom and my pals laughed at it for days maybe even years actually probably still. I was frozen and grossly soaked in disgusting water but no worse for wear. Never broken a bone. I bounce I dont break I appreciate this gift tremendously. 2- I am grateful for the exhilaration of sparkles, miniature objects, fairy things and Hannahs Kittens. I fully realize that this makes me 4. I dont care. I own it. I am attracted to shiny objects that sparkle and twinkle in every form like a magpie. From a shake of subtle edible glitter in a martini (youre guests then become sparkly and glowy its fabulous) to pave crystaled serving utensils, giant rhinestoned rings and then of course the mecca diamonds. I love miniature bears and these tiny Hello Kitty sets that come with little cakes and spoons. I have this teeny siamese ceramic cat that I have had forever and I dont even know where I got it. I dont have a lot of these things Im not that weird but its fun because when they are placed strategically they are delightfully unexpected and incongruous details. Grace bought me a Betsy Johnson fairy on a chain for mothers day. She is what I believe to be fairy-life-sized about 3 and half inches tall, has a green enamel skirt rhinestones on her wings red hair in an up do and ballerina legs that sort of dangle in a tinkerbell way. Grace is an amazing gift finder. Hannahs Kittens are plush kittens and bunnies that are hand crafted beautiful to behold and soft to hold. I also love looking at Jay Strongwater enamel flowered pigs, bunnies and topiaries however I do not yet have one of my own...someday. These little things all lift my spirit and have been known to make me squeal a little in delight. I am oddly enthusiastic. 3- This one is breif. I love to sleep. I think being awake is over rated. White blankets, sheets and pillows my dog and sweet dreams.... not many things trump this. Thank you god.
