Day 4 at Hinchinbrook with the skills learned on the water over - TopicsExpress

Day 4 at Hinchinbrook with the skills learned on the water over the past few days coming all together for an epic session that I will never forget. My first Barra on fly came aboard today, this fish has been my nemesis this week and was a great relief to set the pin and come up tight on the Barra, 2 casts later and my first Blue Salmon is pinned , a few pics then released. Off in search of some flats action around mid morning where our skills would be put to the test once again. What resulted was an awesome flats session for Cherie and Myself. GTs were taking us well into the backing as they run long and fast in the shallow water. Cherie got her first Queenie on fly , a battle with an aerobic performance thrown in for good measure. The GTs were so much fun, we just had to keep at them. One of the worlds toughest fish to capture on the fly is the well renowned Permit , a crab munching machine which deserves the respect it has earned. The are dedicated fly anglers out there that just chase this fish. I was lucky enough to have 2 great shots at them today , the cast and fly presentation got them interested by no bite. What a eye opener into tropical saltwater flyfishing has been this week , from subtle bumps of the fly through the timber to strip as fast as you possibly can all mixed into a day on the water. A massive thanks to Clint Isaac from Australian Flyfishing Outfitters for teaching us the how to of this magnificent sport and to Cherie Forbes for sharing this experience with me.
