Day 5 at Motorcycle Live. Am I going soft? heading in this morning - TopicsExpress

Day 5 at Motorcycle Live. Am I going soft? heading in this morning it was foggy and drizzling! I was really happy to be in the van with Nich, Jenny and Graham! The M6 was snarly and slow, but the conversation in the warm was full of mickey taking fun and yes I was the butt of a bit of it. Serves me right :) Eventually at the exhibitors check in point, the usual smiley guard was there and guess what, not only was the weather mickey taking, the guys mickey taking but then he had his 2 penny worth! Ha, was this going to be on of those days? Actually, no. Running late we trolleyed in more stock and set about opening up the stand. Major work to do today as Graham Field was taking prime spot as guest author and Charley Boorman would be along later. New displays to do and it always feels a bit like doing a vertical jigsaw puzzle! Graham was feeling nervous about this first day in front of the stand. A bit like facing an gnarly dirt road - hows it going to be? Displays completed just in time and... it was really quiet for the first hour. And breathe.... Time for a bit of mucking about and then then the day started with a vengeance. Weve all had a really good steady flow during the day with people from the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Denmark, South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe visiting the stand. Well, Overland Magazine is a magazine all about travel so our guests were all very much in keeping. Thanks to everyone for coming over!!! Graham seemed to be on a roll, relaxed and happy. A great way to do his first day of signing and even the noise from the Yamahas belting around the dirt track opposite us didnt seem to phase him! A surprise visitor was Fern Hume who had flown in from New Zealand just to come to the stand and see us... Well. perhaps not :) It was great to see her on her brief stop over on here round the world ride. Cheers! Elspeth Beard, who was the first British woman to ride a motorcycle solo around the world also stopped off to say hello. Shes a super woman with an excellent story. Full respect to her! Around 4pm Charley Boorman stopped of for a while for a chat with people and to do some book signing, with a bunch of people heading over to meet him (one chap saying that after watching Long Way Round, hed been inspired to learn to ride a bike and wanting to thank Charley for the inspiration), have books signed and to have their photos taken with him.. And then all of a sudden it was 4.30 and I realised that Id been too busy to have lunch! No wonder I was feeling knackered! Happy knackered though! Another good day at Motorcycle Live
