Day 5 of 5 for the Positivity Challenge. This is where—for 5 - TopicsExpress

Day 5 of 5 for the Positivity Challenge. This is where—for 5 days, we choose 3 things each day that are positive/for which we are grateful—and write about them. And…we nominate 3 people each day to take the same challenge. Because my challenge is coming to a close, I want to take just a minute and, once again, thank Barb Bee Marie Helding for getting me involved in this. It has been a GOOD thing. A MUCH NEEDED thing for me. And I encourage everyone to do it. With so much negativity swirling around us from so many different sources, it is an AMAZING (pardon the cliché but it fits) BREATH OF FRESH AIR…deep, cleansing breath of the freshest, clearest air you can imagine, to pause and acknowledge the GOOD in your life. Today, to wrap things up, I am going to choose Facebook as my theme. Facebook catches a lot of crap from a lot of people (including me) for a lot of reasons. But I am SO GRATEFUL for Facebook for SO MANY reasons. Here are 3. 1) If not for Facebook, I would not be able to keep in touch with my friends all over the US and the WORLD! What a miracle that is! I have long time friends ALL OVER THE PLACE! In London, Denmark, Germany, Northern Ireland, Australia, TEXAS, Illinois, California, Kentucky, Florida, New York, Wisconsin, etc. etc. etc. As well as friends who were once a part of my daily life “in person” who have moved on…I am so lucky to be able to meet up with them every day in THIS place. What a gift! 2) If not for Facebook, there are SO MANY FAMILY members I would not have had the opportunity to know and come to love and cherish! Linda Luke Howell, Dana P Womack, Laurens Mcgraw Hooker, Jennifer Overbey-Helterbrand, Juanita Luke Carnline, Julia Wyrick, Deborah Duford, etc. etc. etc. How BLESSED am I that I now KNOW my extended family—and have no doubt that when we meet in person one day, we will feel as if we have known one another forever! And there are so many family members I have been able to RECONNECT with and keep in touch with because of Facebook—Aunt Boo Anne Shinn, John Beach Shinn IV, Darby Shinn Reeves, Frances Johnson McGraw, Erin Davis Pethel…etc. etc. etc. For this I am SO GRATEFUL. 3) Facebook provides me with an outlet for learning about and expressing my views on politics and world events (and sometimes just fun and silliness) that I would not otherwise have…and through various political groups, I have met some of the most amazing people! Lisa Morton Pinnell and Jim Pinnell, Mike Pettit, Mike Stanaland, Art Tousignant, Matt Bardgett, etc. etc. etc. No WAY to name everyone. Nice to have that community here. I learn and grow from you all each day. And today I nominate…no one in particular—but I highly recommend this for everyone. I may go back to my gratitude journal. It is a GIFT to simply pause and recall the GOOD, the BLESSINGS we have in our lives. And there are SO MANY! It’s good to share them, too…which is one thing I have noticed from this challenge—my participation and then just following others. Much good energy created and shared.
