Day 5 update: as long as Im not on the sofa, Mitzi will now take lap time even with Morty right there on the couch. She even came to bed last night and slept with me all night. She really missed me and Im surprised by how much Ive missed her. While shes not exactly happy that Morty is here, shes learning quickly that hes no threat. She has several gated areas where she can hide and feel safe and shes already had the experience of me protecting her. Shes getting used to him. Meanwhile, Morty is getting used to being here. Hes learning he has to sit for meals and snacks, hes learning that Im Mama, and that Mama says NO KITTIES! and means it. Im getting used to this new way of living, too, and I have to admit, the three of us are exhausted! Its for all the right reasons, but all we want to do is sleep, LOL! Morty and I were scheduled to join a group hike at 9 oclock this morning in New Hampshire. It was canceled yesterday because of icy road conditions predicted for today. Im very relieved that it was canceled, especially after reading about a 65 car pileup in Worcester this morning! I hope that giant mess has been cleaned up by now, and that everyone is home, safe and sound. Its time to take the dog for a walk, and then Im going to spend the rest of the day cooking. It is turkey soup day at my house! :o)~
