Police have been going to emergency rooms in hospitals and have been FORCEFULLY abducting wounded protestors. 2 Minibus vans with no plates have been patrolling the Maidan and abducting protestors Jacenuyk, a prominent opposition politician said that Janukovych (ruling president) proposed to postpone talks until tomorrow The good news The police in charge of transportation (HAI) have refused to block protestors from entering the Maidan UPDATE 1: BERKUT (special forces) is using grenades with nails Drunk judge sentences a young protestor to 30 days Note: Ukrainian is my native tongue. Berkut have been shooting rubber bullets, using gas and water cannons today. At 7 AM one protestors was killed from a dragunov sniper rifle the attending physician pulled out a 7 calibre dragunov bullet from the deceased. Hours later a Belarussian student was killed as well by a pistol, 9mm caliber probably from Makarov gun Under the cover of snipers BERKUT started to move in on protestors in the late morning. BERKUT has been aiming directly at journalists. Using heavy automated BTR vehicle they cleared the barricade. However later in the day Protestors from the Maidan came to help and the people have again regained their positions. They have been planning a total clearing of the Maidan overnight. Will keep you posted as this continues. UPDATE 2: Morning News Espresso: Everything about what happened overnight. Hrushevska street was in flames during the night. every 15 minutes 1-2 wounded people seek medical help. Protests have intensified. Internet providers have gotten governmental messages that from 24.01.14 Internet will be out, TV will be out, International TV will be out and land line phones will only work for emergency numbers. Some protestors in Moscow, late in the evening of Jan 22, have shown their support for the Ukrainian people. UPDATE 3: Interview with opposition politician Lilya (didnt get her last name) Automaidan attack at night: BERKUT jammed communication systems and on Chorza street the BERKUT destroyed cars. 7 people were taken to local police station, a lawyer is now at the station. People are continuing tobring car tires to the flame which is symbolically representing the division between the people and its government. The morning was spent by protestors rebuilding and fix barricades. UPDATE 4: Artist Ruslana talking Good morning Ukraine, those waking up, please come out to the Maidan and let some of the protestors who have been here for days go home and sleep. She goes on to talk about the events of the night. UPDATE 5 Interview with young guy: The point of no return has been reached. People are stopping to fight for their political ideals instead to avenge the death of the young students. I have begun to see more papers recently beginning to ask whether or not East Ukraine and West Ukraine will continue to remain one country UPDATE 6: Interview with reporter on the ground Anchor: Unevacuated people were found on the 5th floor of the building where the fire spread from the tire fires on Hrushevska Street. Fire crews were called in to douse the flames. BERKUT has not been advancing recently. Protestors were encouraging the firefighters. Anchor:Was there fighting at night between BERKUT and protestors? Reporter:Well not really, the fighting was minimal due to the fire from the tires. Couple of rows of barricades have been set up on Hrushevska street. Anchor:Whats the feeling like in the crowd? Reporter: Because there were no extreme situations/clashes the protestors are pretty jolly (yea not happy but jolly :), at least their spirits are hi) and in a good mood. Anchor: I recently spoke with medics who said that ~20 of them were injured. Its been very dangerous for the medics transporting people through automaidan. Reporter: Medics have been attacked. (Something happened to the makeshift medical centre on Hrushevska Street not sure what due bad phone quality), Even some international doctors are here. What hasnt changed is the sound of shots ringing in the air. Anchor: Thanks UPDATE 7: The Segment with Polish Ex-president He warned European diplomats as this conflict can have economic and social consequences on the whole of Europe. Mass migration may be a consequence of this conflict. Polish president urged Ukrainians to settle their internal affairs and Europe is always ready to talk again.
