Day 6 - Shabbos... we cruised Glacier Bay... could not take - TopicsExpress

Day 6 - Shabbos... we cruised Glacier Bay... could not take pictures but it was spectacular so I purchase three of the ships photos. We joined a group from Detroit and had a wonderful community meal and davening, Torah reading and all. A nice Shabbos at sea. Day 7 - Hubbard Glacier, largest tide water glacier in the world. We arrived at 8am and spent an hour looking at the mammoth glacier. It is over 400 feet tall, 4 miles wide and over 250 miles long. It is one of the few glaciers that is expanding rather than retreating. As we watched large chunks of ide feel into the water. I was able to capture only a few of the larger ones. When they fall them make a loud noise called White Thunder. The rest of the day was spent at sea cruising the Alaska Gulf. We had rain and rough seas and it was very uncomfortable for many. Day 8 - Whittier, Alaska - disembarkation. We docked at 7am and left the boat at 8:30am. We drove to the Alaska Wild Life Center, which rescues animals injured in the wild and releases them back to the wild. There we got to see our first grisly bear. They had elk, moose, buffalo, red fox, reindeer. We then went to the Alaska tram but the weather was awful and we could not see anything. Riding the tram was ok but without the views it was a waste. They bused us back the Anchorage airport where we rented a car and drove to downtown where I had found a nice motel to spend the night. They have free Wi-Fi which is how I am posting all this now. There was no signal on the boat from when we left Skagway until now. I will post the pictures of the Alaska Wild Life Center later tonight. Tomorrow we drive to Mt McKinley.
