Day 6 LOVE CONSCIOUSNESS Joshua Tende Joshua 1:8 (8) This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. In the New Testament, we are not under the law. Jesus gave us a new commandment. John 13:34 says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” We are to love one another as He loved us. 1 John 4:11 says, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” As a believer I must first know how much God loves me before I will know how to love others. We love Him because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). This means my love for God and the brethren IS A RESPONSE TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIS LOVE FOR ME. So the more I know how much God loves me, the more I love Him and the more I love others. Based on this we can reread the New Testament commandment this way: “KNOW THE LOVE OF GOD FOR YOU AND RESPOND BY LOVING OTHERS.” Now, Joshua 1:8 in the light of the New Testament will read thus: “The knowledge of God’s love, should not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on God’s love day and night, that you may do everything with the consciousness of God’s love, and walk in love towards the brethren, then you will make your way prosperous and you will have good success.” God wants us to talk about His love for us always. To constantly boast of His love for us. He also wants us to meditate on His love always; to think, ponder, and mutter His love for us. He wants us to respond to His love, receive and enjoy His love. This will make us great men and women of love. Continuous thinking and talking about His love will make us to become love conscious. We will develop a consciousness of the Father’s love for us. A consciousness of His love for us will make our faith effective, make loving one another easy, make us to love God more and positions us to enjoy the BEST that God has for us. Keep feeding on His love daily, keep meditating and keep speaking His love daily. And you will be completely transformed by His love.
