Day 6 of the gratitude challenge. Well as you know I am trying to keep this lighthearted. But I digress tonight. I went to the Delray Central House Anniversary night last night where my service sponsor picked up 27 years . I got to hear the messages of ,patience love and tolerance through, service unity and recovery . We sit as a family sharing bonds that few people can understand , in a war with ourselves , with others, and with the world Where we find a truce , then we find a peace , and then we find ourselves. The people we dreamed to be when we were kids. And today I got to listen to a guy share his vision of the future for all of us , and how to get there. I got to hear a young man triumph over the fear of the process, and a young woman challenged with a serious new illness , share the quiet dignity of going through it sober and loved by her friends . And a friend share she liked me for the content of my character. I get to be with some of the most courageous people on the planet going through very difficult things , and they share the most intimate details of their lives . The most basic primal fears to the most intimate feelings of love and life. And I get to witness strength through tragedy, love through pain . I get to witness the hope of the human spirit , survive and rally , in the middle of chaos and wreckage. The phoenix do rise , and they arise by me everyday. And I get to be there . With my band of brothers , former whisky soaked pirates , now good men and true . Who keep the content of my character in line with the content of my verbiage, and in step with what my feet should be doing and not my best thinking. You all should be as lucky and privileged as me. Its a great life. Once you decide to live it.
