Day 75 of my 100 days of happiness challenge. I’m taking the time to show my appreciation for the good things that made me happy today. Today’s thought to ponder: At the end of the day, youre responsible for yourself and your actions and thats all you can control. So rather than be frustrated with what you cant control, try to fix the things you can.” Kevin Garnett ************************* I’m happy that I continue to make progress, even be it a small ones, towards getting myself better. As with anything worthwhile I learned that it takes hard work and commitment to continue to completion of a task. It is incredible how we take our health for granted. I now know that it’s easier to take care of it than repair it. (Did you young pups hear that?!) I’m happy that there was a serious discussion today about how we see, react and treat each other. Listening and reading the reactions of some people to ‘everyday’ problems (Street parking, loss of wifi, cable disruptions, service in a diner…) made me realize that most of us deal with ‘first World problems’ and we forget what sacrifice really is. I’m happy that I live in a community where there are still people that care for one another and all living things. I’m happy that I know incredible servants that live to serve others. It reinforces for me that “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” (Martin Luther King, Jr.) I’m happy that every day I learn something new about myself and others. Today I learned that it is easier to take care and respect each other than it is to find fault in everything I encounter. It’s probably one of those things I learned in kindergarten and forgot.
