Day 9 - Hallett - This morning we had breakfast & exchanged addresses with our street host & near neighbours then we drove to Rosslyn Bay for our cruise to Great Keppel Island. What a great day – sunshine – aqua blue water – golden sand – good company – what more could we ask for! Morning tea followed then we boarded a glass bottom boat for a leisurely drift over the reef. We saw hard & soft corals, lots of fish & even a turtle or two. A lovely lunch was enjoyed aboard the Freedom catamaran & then we had some free time to relax, swim or walk on the beach before returning back to Rosslyn Bay. Oktoberfest was under way when we arrived back & after enjoying a german sausage & beer or wine it was time for shopper docket draw then a short break before attending the BIG raffle draw & closing ceremony. Sorry to say our club members didn’t win any prizes – maybe next time. A presentation of $20,000 cheque was made to RFDS & over 2,000 craft items handed over to Red Cross – not a bad effort. Tonights entertainment was by Ipswich RSL Youth Band – what a talented bunch they were. There was plenty of toe-tapping & singalongs enjoyed by all. I did have a bit of luck in the swindle raffle run by the band group – I won 2nd prize which turned out to be $25 cash. Thanks to everyone for their company over the past 9 days hope you all enjoyed yourselves as mush as we did. John & Jan
