Day Eleven: The Value Of The Word. Psalm 19:7-11 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Points to ponder: 1. Do we value the word of our Master as the Psalmist? 2. How is our value of the word demonstrated in our daily living? Christian radio is big business. Once upon a time it was not that way. Thanks to the internet people can listen to stations from anywhere around the world at anyplace they can connect. Each of these stations are doing their best to get the Word of God out to the public. Some stations are for profit and others are listener supported. Some of the “for profit” stations are owned by media conglomerates that value the dollar only. Some are listener supported and depend on the giving of the listener. Whether for profit or not each of these stations place a value on the Word of God. If we listen to the Psalmist we find that the spiritual value of the Word of God is priceless and eternal. The intention of the Lord with this passage seems to be to tell us that there is no price that can be placed on hearing and following the Word. X number of dollars may be required to broadcast the gospel in a certain area on radio but there can be no earthly price set on what that word means to the servant of the Lord. We must value the Word for what it is: a lamp to our feet and light for our path. We must treat the Word as the priceless jewel that it is. Prayer: As your servant Lord I need direction. Please remind me every day of the value of the Word that you have already given to me. Help me understand that all that I need to know in understanding your will and your way is contained in my Bible. Help my heart and mind to absorb all that you have for me in your word today and every day. As the Psalmist says: Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. (Ps 119:18)
