Day Seventeen of the Eileen McCreary Nuss Music Memorial. 1 – 2 – 3- Turn It Up. Well it would not be a party without Lynyrd Skynyrd and if I had a dollar for every time I heard Free Bird, I would be retired. Reviewer Lorry Fleming calls it the most-requested song in the history of rock music. However, Freebird, a tame version, was on the first album. Today we will feature the band’s second album from 1974 aptly named: “Second Helping”. This is an important album since it was the first one to feature the bands trademark triple guitar attack that made them such a powerful live band. It featured “Sweet Home Alabama” the musical response to Neil Youngs Alabama and Southern Man. The album reached #12 on the Billboard album charts and went on to become 2x Platinum. Most importantly, it had a song that reminds me of Eileen: Dont Ask Me No Questions. Eileen was fun loving, YET, private and, to boot, this is the grammar she would of [intended] used. The chorus of the song: “So, dont ask me no questions” “And I wont tell you no lies” “So, dont ask me about my business” “And I wont tell you goodbye” “Thats right” As lead singer Ronnie Van Zant began Freebird: If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me? Yes, Eileen, not just me, a lot of people! Your Bro! https://youtube/watch?v=YMBmjCq1lpk
