Day Twenty-one Qatar, Arabian Peninsula Qatar, like many countries in the Arabian Peninsula, is criticized for its treatment of migrant workers. The International trade unions have called on world soccer body FIFA to deprive Qatar of its right to host the 2022 World Cup because they failed to end 21st century slavery. Pray for all workers who are extremely low paid, suffering, and dying because of poor working conditions. Pray for the government to use its great wealth to make sure human rights are given to all workers in Qatar (The Bible, Proverbs 31:8-9). Turkmenistan, Central Asia At a special forum of the United Nations Human Rights Council, western nations claimed the Turkmenistan government is “not held accountable for torture or other human rights violations” and “fundamental freedoms remain heavily curtailed.” Countries also criticized Turkmenistan’s poor policy on domestic violence and false imprisonment of journalists, government critics, and religious minorities. Pray for the restoration of basic freedoms in Turkmenistan. Pray for the Gospel to spread in this Asian nation (The Bible, Isaiah 61:1).
