Day after the retreat, and todays Living Life devotion is quite relevant for those of us who were at the retreat, worth a read. You miss out reading the online version though because theres a bit that is in the book that isnt online.. here it is. Time to Grow Up I tried to extend my teen years for as long as I could. After finishing high school, I went to university thinking that 51% was 1% too much work. Upon graduating (two years late!), I packed my belongings and moved to Korea in a further effort to extend my teen years under the guise of teaching English and travelling. I was a boy drifting in a mans body, living for a good time, but not thinking about a good legacy. I have often wondered about what I would say if I could go back in time and give myself a good talking to before heading to university. Here is a brief list: 1. Remembering that Jesus always comes first, determine your top six or seven priorities every quarter and allocate your time accordingly. 2. Find three good mentors, shut up, listen, and learn! 3. Ask what kind of spouse you ought to be, not what kind of spouse you want; you dont know what you want anyway. 4. Dont ask a girl out if you dont plan to marry her within two years; you dont need that kind of temptation. Just love her as a sister in Christ. 5. After graduating, get to work as soon as possible, but dont blow your new funds on man-toys; start saving for your future (house, wedding, childrens college funds, etc.) In short, grow up, and be the responsible man God is calling you to be. The world of my grandfather was evil because it made him grow up too fast; the world of today is evil because it prevents many from ever growing up at all. - Carl Trueman --------------------- If anyone would like to order the devotional books, they ship once a month and cost around £50 for the year (less than £5 a month). Reply here or let Jason/Mel (clumsyduck@gmail) know if youd like to order!
