Day long workshop on increasing crops held productivity of temperate. SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 15: To make through in production, productivity and quality, besides exploring the potential of temperate Horticulture Crops in the valley, the Central Institute, temperate Horticulture organised a day long workshop here today. Deputy Director, General for Horticulture, Government of India was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Among others Director Horticulture Kashmir, besides Chief Horticulture officers, experts and a large number of progressive farmers and orchardist participated in the workshop. It was given out that Horticulture crops cover an area of 35000 hectares land generating an annual income of Rs. 42000 crore in the Horticulture. Speaking on the occasion the experts emphasized for the use of better genetic resources and efficient genotypes besides sustainable production technologies with the focus on integrated nutrient, disease and pest management for the production of quality fruits. The Horticulture experts exhorted for the judicious use of water and fertilizers besides pre and post harvest management. They also emphasized for value addition and better marketing to ensure higher returns with better employment opportunities. Director, Horticulture, Kashmir urged for improving the field of temperate Horticulture Crop by exploiting climatic conditions water resonances and genotypes of high fielding varieties.
