Day out with the Don. Drove to Har Hadar, which has a significant place in the history of Israel. From here attacks were made in the 1948 independence war by the Harel division of the palmach, whose first commander was Itzhak Rabin. Lovely site with a magnificent view of the east part of israel all the way to Jerusalem. Nice description of all the battles that took place in the vicinity including the 6 day war in 1967. On top of the tower we met some harp players and my dad got into a deep conversation with a teacher about the 1948, in which he took part as a 17 yearly old kid. All high school kids from 11th and 12th grades were drafted to fight for the newborn country. Its only when you stand here and look towards Jerusalem that you see how small our country is... Very emotional trip...
