Day two with dad and he remains stable although still on the ventilator now undergoing a breathing trial to see if his lungs can function unassisted. He is frustrated and tired of the uncertainties with his health. I have been encouraging him as best as I can talking to him about the grandchildren and being upbeat even though its painful to see him in this state. His mind is sharp and his spirit is willing but the body is weak. The objective at this point is to make his lungs strong enough to come off the ventilator. No decision has been made in regards to going ahead with the surgery. It is a waiting game at this point. The lovely hospital nun came in to pray over him and offer hope and encouragement and dad was very pleased to see her. He loves her sweetness and responded well when she came in. I was able to receive Communion and was grateful to have Jesus strengthen me. This waiting and uncertainty about dads future is weighing heavily on our family and we are praying for discernment for the doctors as well as patient and prayerful perseverance for dad and all of us who love him dearly...
