Daylight saving time in the United States MARCH 9TH From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Ohio Clock in the U.S. Capitol being turned forward for the countrys first daylight saving time in 1918 Daylight saving time in the United States is the practice of setting the clock forward by one hour during the warmer part of the year, so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less. Most areas of the United States currently observe daylight saving time (DST), the exceptions being Arizona (except for the Navajo Nation, which does observe daylight saving time),[1] Hawaii,[2] and the overseas territories of Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the United States Virgin Islands. Daylight saving time starts on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November, with all time changes taking place at 2:00 A.M. local time. In 2013, daylight saving time began on March 10 and ended on November 3. In 2014, DST begins on March 9 and ends on November 2.[2]
