Dayy 81 of Thankfulness. Mr. ATENIDORO URBANO was my teacher in - TopicsExpress

Dayy 81 of Thankfulness. Mr. ATENIDORO URBANO was my teacher in the most boring subject of my entire life as a pupil. Where he got all the enthusiasm over the subject boggled my mind! He rattled names of prime ministers... and presidents... and capitals of countries then expected us to memorize and remember all of that! I remember I never got passed the score of 3 for a 10 item quiz and that was all for guesswork. It is surprising how I got promoted to Grade 6... only to encounter Mr. URBANO again... and the same routine continued... with the same names being hammered into my unwilling brain. I had a classmate who always got a perfect score in all our quizzes and always the highest during exams. His name was Gerardo Galdonez. I wondered just what was so interesting in the subject that he managed to outperform all of us. What was so interesting about remembering names and matching them to countries! And what good was it remembering all those, anyway! Today, I thank the Lord for Mr. ATENIDORO URBANO. I could have languished in Grade 5 all my life if he failed me in Social Studies. Somehow, he found it in his heart to give me a passing mark... for the effort of attending his classes without fail... and for good behavior as well.
