Dead Reckoning - Group Minoriteam - Sessions 14 and 15 (March 7th and 14th, 2014) ---------------------------------------------- QUICK RECAPITULATION: (still in progress) ---------------------------------------------- GAME MECHANICS: Character Level: Still at level 16, but you will almost certainly level up after this session, no matter how the situation with Wilbur and Doctor Skinner is handled. Creatures Killed: (2) Security Turret (1) Ghoul Anesthesiologist Notable Karmic Change: Spina, Silver: (+5) for reasoning with the near-feral ghoul nurses rather than simply murdering them. Silver: (-3) for convincing the head nurse that she’s cut out for the nonexistent Pones Hopkins School of Medicine. Notable Loot Recovered: (1) Featherweight Talisman (WT 0 / VAL 98) * (3) Mintals (WT ½ / VAL 20) (1) Stampede (WT ½ / VAL 20) (20) Buck (WT ½ / VAL 20) (16) Tex’s Red Album (WT 1 / VAL 12) ** (some) Assorted albums (WT 1 / VAL 12) *** (2) Ether Gun (WT 3 / VAL 150) **** (1) Compliance Regulator (WT 3 / VAL 1350) (1) Sledgehammer (WT 12 / VAL 130) (1) Unknown Zebra Talisman (WT 1 / VAL ???) ***** (1) Give Peas a Chance: A Vegetarian Cooking Guide (WT 2 / VAL 50) ****** (1) Stress and the Zebra Refugee: A Primer (WT 1 / VAL 20) * Shaped like an eagle’s feather and inlaid with a pale turquoise, this talisman reduces the weight of whoever is wearing it or whatever it’s attached to by one-third. It is currently attached to the skywagon, which has a base weight of 300#. ** Found in the trash can at the WDXY Radio Transmitter in West Gnawlins, these vinyl albums are a bright cherry red. Their effect has not been empirically tested. *** If I remember correctly, the artists chosen by the party were as follows: Phish, Queen, Tenacious D, Switchfoot, Green Day, Billy Joel, Billy Idol, Billie Holiday, Katy Perry, and Frank Sinatra. **** Ether guns are small and toylike, made entirely of hard plastic, and are equipped with two canisters, one containing a clear liquid (successful MED rolls informed the party that it is ether), the other containing an unknown white powder with small blue flecks in it. When fired, one-third of each canister is emptied and compressed into a fine mist, invoking an END check in all nearby living targets (MFD ¼ within 5 feet, MFD ¾ within 10 feet) to not lose consciousness. Its long-term effects are not yet known to the party. ***** Shaped like a crescent moon and bearing a strong resemblance to a certain princess’ cutie mark, this talisman was found on the corpse of a zebra, seemingly abandoned on a gurney in a nonfunctioning elevator. Its effects are not yet known to the party. ****** Has three “charges” when found. Identified Map Locations (visited): NW R37 - Starting Location SW S37 - Peauxnyville NE S36 - Evinrude’s Shack, S. It appears to be genuine, and the speaker appears to be in considerable distress after barely fighting off a cadre of Spythons. After following the distress beacon to St. Mane’s Infirmary, the party has confirmed they are looking for Wilbur Windfury, who was bitten by a Spython and now appears to be at the mercy of the mysterious Doctor Skinner. Will you save him? Or will Wilbur become yet another lobotomy patient for the ghoul rehab technicians to look after Hoof Lickin’ Good: (no new progress) The party has stumbled across three mysterious chemicals located in the Chemistry department at Two-Lane University that seem to have some sort of connection with one another. From the simple labeling, one can surmise that there are at least eight more “ingredients” related to the ones you’ve found. Perhaps you’ll be able to complete the recipe, as’t were, and find out what makes a certain local specialty so undeniably delicious. 1) 2) 3) 4) SAUCY - A translucent bright orange liquid 5) SPICY - A chalky deep red liquid 6) 7) 8) 9) 10) 11) GRIS-GRIS - A strange purplish liquid with…interesting properties Hail The Caninefederacy: (PROGRESS IN PROGRESS) (what it says) Ecilop Eht Nioj: (no new progress) Sheriff Mulligan of the Mississippony Police Department has assigned you to Gnawlins, where the police have been having the most trouble keeping the peace. Your first task is to report to Captain Bligh, who is purported to be stationed there, but might have already moved farther south to Head of the Talon. You’d best get a move on if you want to catch him before he leaves! What Does The Fox Say: (no new progress) After ‘purifying’ the town of Peauxnyville, the imposing Quod Vulpes Dicere of the Night Trotters issued an ominous warning. The settlement of Snatchez, described as “…a city of whores and thieves”, would be the next target for the organization. When asked about their motivations, Quod was very adamant when has said that the Night Trotters “…represent the Princess that Luna *should* have been.” When asked about possibly joining the organization, Quod referred the party to the mysterious Gris-Gris man, to whom the Night Trotters show great respect and reverence. The choice has been left to the party; either head north to Snatchez and warn the inhabitants of the coming army, or head southeast to the Fancee Quarter of Gnawlins and consult this mysterious Gris-Gris man. Update: It appears as if one group has made the first choice and the other group is making the second. Whoo party split! Oh Brother, Where Art Thou: (no new progress) Evinrude, the elderly ferryman of Bayou Cheval, has agreed to waive the traditional 300 cap fee for passage across the swamp in exchange for an errand, namely that the party deliver a hoofwritten letter to his brother in Genfilly. Evinrude ensures that his brother Huey looks mighty similar to himself. Do an old buck a favor and make sure his message gets through. Back in the Bottle Again: (no new progress) Evinrude’s eclectic collection of pre-war glass bottles is rather extensive. Unfortunately, he is missing a key component of his Sparkle~Cola collection, the commemorative edition Sparkle~Cola Okra given away at the 40th anniversary celebration at the Sparkle~World amusement park just outside of Coltlanta. Visiting a theme park might be a nice way to take a limb--I mean load off in the Wasteland. Ponies of Constant Sorrow: (no new progress) The group has happened across an advertisement for WDXY Radio and Recording Studios in Deluxie. The flyer promises a handsome cash prize for anypony willing to visit their studio and record new music for the station to broadcast across the Southern Everfree. A jam session might be a good way to boost group morale. A Good Mare is Hard to Find: (no new progress) (in progress - hold your horses) They Trrk Ourr Grrns: (COMPLETE) ---------------------------------------------- GM NOTES TO SELF: 1) Increasing amounts of d12s of damage are a surprisingly good motivator for players. 2) If you’re going to let the party voluntarily split itself, try to make the splits interesting enough that the uninvolved players are still paying attention and not just getting bored. 3) Make sure Doctor Skinner is an interesting encounter that feels distinct from the White Robes. He’s not one, by the way, so don’t make him feel like one. 4) On a possibly-related note, kill the players.
